Ethical Behavior The Rehab Team is committed to the principle that all patients, employees, volunteers and visitors deserve to be treated with dignity and courtesy and in a compassionate manner. In all circumstances, we will treat patients in a manner that considers their background, culture, religion, heritage, and personal beliefs. Every patient has the right to as much information as needed, or available, to make informed decisions regarding their care. Discharge planning will be coordinated with patients and families in order to meet the patient's continuing care needs. Rehab staff will not have interests that conflict with their performance or result in private gain. All employees must abide by the federal rules for accepting or giving of gifts. Patient information will not be shared in an unauthorized manner and patient privacy will be respected. New services and techniques implemented will be based on such things as safety, effectiveness, efficiency, staff competency and research studies. Patients may inquire about the business relationships of the medical center, affiliates and other healthcare providers that may influence the patient's care. In compliance with federal regulations, medical center staff will perform fair billing and conduct ethical business practices. Resources
