Referral for Services

You can:

  • Refer yourself for an evaluation. All you need to do is contact the Substance Abuse Program at a VA Medical Center nearest you. A counselor will ask you for some basic information and set up an appointment for your first assessment and informational session.
  • Have your VA primary care physician or other health care provider refer you. They will send a consult to the Substance Abuse Program. Then, you will be contacted by telephone or letter to set up your first appointment.
