All research personnel with VA-paid or Without Compensation (WOC) appointments must complete:
- Privacy and HIPAA training (TMS DVA-002, DVA-027, 10176). Annual
- VA Privacy and Information Security Awareness and Rules of Behavior (TMS DVA-003, DVA-024, 10176). Annual
- Government Ethics Training (TMS DVA-029, DVA-019). Annual
Research personnel involved in VAWNYHS Human Subject Research (including human subject research that has been certified as Exempt from IRB review) must also take the following courses, as applicable:
- Human Subject Protection & Good Clinical Practices (CITI 46329). Triennial
- Privacy and HIPAA training (TMS DVA-002, DVA-027, 10176). This training is required if the individual will have access to Annual
- Bloodborne Pathogens (TMS V02-002, 1328444). This training is required if the individual will have exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Annual
- SAF-T-PAK (Video from Research Office). This training is required if the individual will be responsible for shipping biological items. Once
- Additional competencies required for clinical research personnel – please review the Research Functional Statement for additional requirements.
Research personnel involved in VAWNYHS Animal Research must also take the following courses, as applicable:
- Working with the VA IACUC (CITI 70575, 70576). Triennial
- Working with Mice in a Research Setting (CITI 70577). This training is required if the individual will be working with mice. Triennial
- Working with Rats in a Research Setting (CITI 70578). This training is required if the individual will be working with rats. Triennial
- Anesthetic Gas / Analgesic (CITI). This training is required if the individual will be working with anesthetic agents. Once
- Ord Biosecurity Training (CITI 70589). Once
- SAF-T-PAK (Video from Research Office). This training is required if the individual will be responsible for shipping biological items. Once
Research personnel involved in VAWNYHS Laboratory Based Research must also take the following courses, as applicable:

- SAF-T-PAK (Video from Research Office). This training is required if the individual will be responsible for shipping biological items. Once
- Blood Borne Pathogens (TMS V02-002, 1328444). This training is required if the individual will have exposure to blood borne pathogens. Annual
