“I had no idea I was traveling to England!”

An English dinner.

Thursday, November 12, 2015

The Bath VA Food and Nutrition staff out did themselves again.  This time they created a change of menu offering Veterans a taste of England on October 7, 2015.

The menu included beef Wellington, Yorkshire pudding, braised oxtail soup, quail eggs and for desert raspberry trifle with clotted cream and scones (recipe below).

 Residents were quoted as saying:

“ I lived in London for a time and you got it right”

“ I love that these meals are offered to us, it is clear you guys are working hard for us”

“ I knew I was going to a fun lunch, but I had no idea I was traveling to England”

“ I love beef Wellington”

Coming up next in VA’s version of I’ll have what Phil’s having… is the “Hunters Feast”, a wild game dinner featuring: rainbow trout caviar, pickled quail eggs, venison diane, pheasant pilaf, moose meatloaf, and rabbit ramekins to list a few items.
